Kid Programme

Alhamdulillah. Praises to Allah the Almighty.

Last Friday, (23th December 2011), an activity for muslim children in Iwate was held at a one of the Malaysian student house. The event was conducted by 5 female Malaysian students as facilitators. The programme started at 12: 30 pm with the “let’s sing!” slot.

A nasyeed song “ I am a muslim” by Yusof Islam was choosen by the facilitators to start this educational activity. The kids learned how to use the phrase “Bismillah” and “Alhamdulillah” in their daily life.

After the sing-along session, the next activity was the "coloring activity". Each one of them was given a picture and they were asked to color them with their own creativity. After they had finished, the facilitator would then explained what the picture is all about. Through this activity, the kids learnt about Islamic dress code, which require everyone to cover their aurat.
The coloring activity was ended at 3:30 pm.

We perform Asar prayer together with the kids. Alhamdulillah, despite of their young age, they are able to perform the prayer correctly but there are still room for improvement. Next time, InsyaAllah, we will have a session to improvise their prayer.
All the joy and excitement ended at 3:45 p.m. and we do hope this programme would benefit the kids in their Islamic education during their stay in Japan.

This program was a very great start for muslim children in Iwate to learn about Islam in more fun ways. The children also gave unexpected respond to the facilitators as they participated actively in every slot. This kind of activities also should be continued to build a strong muslim community in Japan. Insya Allah.
Thanks to everyone for their own contribution to make the activity a success.
We hope to see all the kids again next time :)

Cats in the Hadith

In the Islamic world, cats are recognized with respect and honor and are welcome in the home of Muslims. Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) said “A good deed done to a beast is as good as doing good to a human being; while an act of cruelty to a beast is as bad as an act of cruelty to a human being.” This applies to human relationships with all animals.
  • Cats are permitted inside mosques.
  • Abu Hurayrah means father of cats.
  • Cat hair is considered pure according to Hanafi School.
  • Prophet Muhammad condemned the selling of cats.
  • Small amounts of cat hair on prayer clothes does not make prayers void.
  • Cat in Arabic is Quttah / Qittu.
In the hadith, cats are said to be generally clean animals. An example of this can be seen in a story where a girl named Kabsha filled a container with water for her uncle to perform wadu from but found her uncle letting a cat drink from the same container. Kabsha continued, “He saw me looking at him and said, ‘Are you surprised, daughter of my brother?’ I said, ‘Yes.’ He replied that the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, said, cats are not impure. They intermingle with you.” (Al-Muwatta, hadith 2.3.13)
Companions and Friends
Even one of the companions of the Prophet was known to keep a kitten close by and was therefore nicknamed Abu Hurayrah, this translates to “father of the kitten.”
Did you know that prophet Muhammad (PBUH) was also very fond of cats? There is a story that is related about a day when a cat was asleep on prophet Muhammad’s (PBUH) robe. When he was ready to leave, he looked at the cat asleep on his robe and instead of disturbing the cat’s sleep he cut off the sleeve upon which he lay.
Treatment
There is a story in the Hadith that tells us about a woman who was punished because of a cat. She had neither provided the cat with food nor drink, nor set it free so that it might eat the insects of the earth.
Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) told his companions that a great sin had been committed because one of Allah’s creatures had been ill-treated. The woman who had treated her cat so cruelly was not forgiven for her sins: she was sent to Hell for her wrongdoing.(Sahih Bukhari, Volume 3, Book 40, Number 553)
So, remember to take good care of your pets and other creatures. Allah rewards kindness to animals but punishes those who are cruel.

(volume:27th December 2011)

'Umar ibn al-Khattab said:
As we sat one day with the Messenger of Allah (Allah bless him and give him peace), a man in pure white clothing and jet black hair came to us, without a trace of travelling upon him, though none of us knew him.
He sat down before the Prophet (Allah bless him and give him peace) bracing his knees against his, resting his hands on his legs, and said: "Muhammad, tell me about Islam." The Messenger of Allah (Allah bless him and give him peace) said: "Islam is to testify that there is no god but Allah and that Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah, and to perform the prayer, give zakat, fast in Ramadan, and perform the pilgrimage to the House if you can find a way."
He said: "You have spoken the truth," and we were surprised that he should ask and then confirm the answer. Then he said: "Tell me about true faith (iman)," and the Prophet (Allah bless him and give him peace) answered: "It is to believe in Allah, His angels, His inspired Books, His messengers, the Last Day, and in destiny, its good and evil."
"You have spoken the truth," he said, "Now tell me about the perfection of faith (ihsan)," and the Prophet (Allah bless him and give him peace) answered: "It is to worship Allah as if you see Him, and if you see Him not, He nevertheless sees you."
He said: "Now tell me about the Hour." The Prophet (Allah bless him and give him peace) answered: "The one who is asked about it does knows no more than the questioner."
He said: "Then tell me about its signs." The Prophet (Allah bless him and give him peace answered: "That a slave girl shall give birth to her mistress, and that you see barefoot, naked, destitute shepherds vying to build tall buildings."
Then the visitor left. I waited a long while, and the Prophet (Allah bless him and give him peace) said to me, "Do you know, 'Umar, who was the questioner?" and I replied, "Allah and His messenger know best." He said,
"It was Jibril, who came to you to teach you your religion"
(Sahih Muslim).

السلام عليكم ورحمة الله وبركاته

“ The parable of those who spend their substance in the way of Allah is that of a grain of corn: it groweth seven ears, and each ear Hath a hundred
grains. Allah giveth manifold increase to whom He pleaseth: And Allah careth for all and He knoweth all things.”
 [Al-baqarah: 261]

Every year, each and every person in Morioka try our best in search for a bigger and better place to be our own Masjid.
Muslim living around Morioka City of Iwate, has been renting a house with the rent of 60,000 yen per month, for more than 10 years. Until now our hope to have our own Masjid, in our own building has never fade.

Alhamdulillah, now we have the chance to buy a building which is in a walking distance to the Iwate University (5 minutes by walk).
The building is the best place to be converted into the Masjid as it is in the walking distance from the Iwate University, where most of the Muslims gather.

The price of the building is 12,800,000 yenWe humbly ask for your donation to help us establishing the Masjid in Morioka City, Iwate.
We hope to get support from every Muslim from Japan, and around the world to help us for the sake of Allah.

 “Narrated from Abu Hurairah r.a, prophet (pbuh) said: If a person dies, all his deeds are break except from these three;
1) Beneficial knowledge,
 2) ONGOING CHARITY,
3) his child’s pray for him.”

This du'a is taken from a Hadith narrated by Ibn Hibban.

Let's practice it in order to be a better Muslim.

Friday's Khutbah (9 December 2011)

This week khutbah title is Miracle of Quran

1. Our humiliation as Muslim could become weaker when we do not take Quran to become our basis in governing our daily life. Quran will lead us to the remembrance of Allah, disassociating our life with Quran will make us forgot about Allah as been said in Surah Al-Hasyr; verse 19 : "And do not be like those who forgot of Allah. And He (Allah) made him forget their own souls! Such are the rebellious transgressors."

2. Quran is the a miracle. As a muslim we should know that Quran is not a linear book which have the beginning and the end, instead Quran is a book which circulated from Surah Al-Fatihah to Surah An-Nass.

3. To finished reading a round of Quran is called as Khatam Al-Quran. The words khatam is originated from "Khaatim" which translated in English as a "Ring".

4. As a muslim we must be living in Allah centered life. All our action must be taken into consideration the satisfaction of Allah. Never ever we should be doing something that will not satisfy Allah. This include our decision in life which should be Allah centered.

5. The centralization concept have been shown by Allah in many of its creation; the electron is centralizing the nucleus, the people is centralizing the Ka'bah, the moon is centralizing the earth, the earth is centralizing the sun and the sun is centralizing the galaxy.

6. And all of this must be centralized to one and the only source which is Allah s.w.t. Centralization will creates an orbit or route of actions or movement which is describes in Surah Ar-Rahman; verse 40: "It is not for the sun to overtake the moon, nor does the nght outstrip the they. They all float, each in an orbit."

7. This is the teaching of Islam; centralized our life to Allah by making used of His book; Al-Quran.

Wallahualam.

Hadith #2

(volume:12th December 2011)

A man asked the Prophet, “What Islamic traits are the best?”
The Prophet replied, “Feed the people, and greet those whom you know and those whom you do not know.”
[Bukhari]

Nowadays we see that salaam is not considered the right of every Muslim. People will only give salaam to the people that they only know. In fact, if you offer salaams to strangers today they might look at you funny and trying to figure out if they know you. Because of that, you are not willing to give salaam to strangers anymore. Nevertheless, let us make an effort to revive this sunnah for the love of the Prophet and as a practice of one of the best traits of Islam.

Follow the sunnah, then you will get the jannah..InshaAllah.

If they’re still not sure, then they cann’t eat or drink it. You can help them by calling the company or writing e-mail to the company to find out about the ingredients.
Some of the ingredients that are haram, such as:
alcohol, monodiglycerides from animals, gelatin from aimals, enzymes from animals, rennet L-cysteine, etc.

- The other activites that I did with my kids were cutting some pictures from old magazines or newspapers to make group list of products, foods, drinks, etc. which are halal or haram.

- You can make some words puzzles about the list of ingredients that are haram to eat. These are some puzzles that you can make to print out.
1.
Print out Word Puzle for List of Haram ingredients
2.
Word Search for List of Haram Ingredients

Some of the list:of haram ingredients are:

ALCOHOL
BACON
DIGLYCERIDE
GELATIN
GLYCERINE
GLYCERYLSTEARATE
LARD
MAGNESIUMSTEARATE
MONOGLYCERIDES

- When you go to groceries, let the kids read the ingredients, and they will learn and practice how to find out and read the ingredients first before buying the foods or any products.
- For big kids, you can ask them to do research about the science of those ingredients and other haram foods.

1. [4.Surah An-Nisaa : Ayah 36]

"And serve Allah and do not associate any thing with Him and be good to the parents and to the near of kin and the orphans and the needy and the neighbor of (your) kin and the alien neighbor, and the companion in a journey and the wayfarer and those whom your right hands possess; surely Allah does not love him who is proud, boastful."

2. [6.Surah Al-An'am : Ayah 151]

"Show kindness to your parents, and do not slay your children for (fear of) poverty-- We provide for you and for them."

3. [17.Surah Bani Israel : Ayah 23-24]
"And your Lord has commanded that you shall not serve (any) but Him, and goodness to your parents. If either or both of them reach old age with you, say not to them (so much as) "Ugh" nor chide them, and speak to them a generous word."

"And make yourself submissively gentle to them with compassion, and say: O my Lord! have compassion on them, as they brought me up (when I was) little."

4. [29.Surah Al-Ankabut : Ayah 8]

"And We have enjoined on man goodness to his parents, and if they contend with you that you should associate (others) with Me, of which you have no knowledge, do not obey them, to Me is your return, so I will inform you of what you did."

6. [46.Surah Al-Ahqaf : Ayah 15]

"And We have enjoined on man doing of good to his parents; with trouble did his mother bear him and with trouble did she bring him forth; and the bearing of him and the weaning of him was thirty months."
